From one life to the next

My brother in Christ, Coleman Hinkefent, passed away December 20th a little after midnight Oklahoma time. Continue to pray for his family during this difficult time.

What's Shakin'

Me - now that we have a new president-elect!

No, seriously, things have been really busy. Football every Friday night for one. After serviving Senior Night, we played an out of town game and then have 2 more road games the next two Fridays. Saturdays have been filled with my son home from college, having friends over for our turn to host game night and looking forward to traveling with the Competitve Speech team in three weeks to a meet. That means all the mundane chores of life - grocery shopping, laundry, etc are pushed to Monday, Tuesdays and Thursdays, since Wednesdays and Sundays we reserve for church activities.

At work we have gotten new paint & carpet over a 2 week period. So things are still a little out of place there.

That's it. That's all for now. I'm working on a bulletin board for the nursery area at church and once that is done (hopefully by Sunday) I will be back to scrapping and card making again. And maybe posting regularly. I have taken many, many cheer pictures and have to get them organized to print.

Goodness Another Post No Pictures!

My college son the political science major has a new job at his school. He is working for the PR department 10 hours a week. He is writing press releases for the school to be picked up by news services. His 1st story to hit print has just been picked up. He will have no by-line, but it is exciting to know that what I am reading my son wrote.

Posting without a picture

I'm in the mood to post - My daughter's school cheer squad will be at regional's this weekend. She is really stressed about it because a girl was injured last week and may not be able to compete. There is one more practice before the competition, so I'm praying they figure out what to do.

The other thing that I've been trying to do is add a playlist to my blog. But have been unsuccessful - I used to be a techy - guess I'm going soft in my old age. If any of you have any pointers let me know.

Long Day - 07/14/06

 

What a long day. Up before dawn after a late night touring Guanajuato City. We had to be at the airport by 6:30am. Then through customs that rummaged through our well packed bags. Next a 5 1/2 hour layover in Monterrey, MEX before flying to Dallas. Our plane from Dallas to OKC was delayed by 2 hours. We rolled into Enid about Midnight. Very weary.

Experimenting with Glitter Mist

I stamped this white cardstock with Technique Tuesday Pick a Flower stamps. I first applied a french blue color and then rolled the edges in an indigo. Next I applied snowflake glimmer mist to the stamped page. This was a luncheon that our church gave for our 2007 graduates.

I Was Tagged!

Denice tagged me and now I have to post some stuff:

10 years ago:
I was a full-time stay-at-home mom with a toddler, 1st grader and 3rd grader. The oldest 2 had just gotten their 1st pair of glasses. My mom was still alive and living in her home with only a small inkling of the dementia to come. I had lived in our present home for 5 years after moving back home from a 9 year stint in Texas.

5 things on today's to do list: 2 loads of laundry, pick up the dining room clutter, e-mail a friend, get a hair appointment for my son, Swimsuit Bootcamp Video.

Snacks I enjoy: New favorite - Sorbetto, Green Apple Licorice Sticks, Sno Cones, Popcorn, Peanuts, Snickers.

If I had millions I would pay someone to finish renovating my house, buy a 3 bedroom cabin in Colorado to vacation in, do a world cruise & a summer in Europe. Spend 1/4 my year on mission trips in Mexico or South America.

Places I've lived: Northwest Oklahoma, Central Oklahoma, North Central Texas.

I know, I know it has been over a month since I updated my blog. Look for exciting (in author's eyes) updates here the first week of July!! Until then I leave you with these words of wisdom:

This is the flower pot shape from Cricut cartridge "Walk in My Garden". I embellished it by stencilling with my watercolor pencils and then shading the left side with pastel chalks in oranges and pinks. I liked the way it turned out. I'll now decorate a flower to go with it and use it on a scrap page.

This is an example of the crackle paint by Ranger on a tag. The paint is really thick. You may speed dry it with a heat gun or blowdryer. The cardstock I used for this tag was not real thick and the tag ended up curling after drying.

Scrap Room

My scrap room is a sun room off of my upstairs bedroom. It is packed with way too much stuff. It needs to be repainted, but who wants to move all that stuff?

I store some of my sorted photos under the table. Others are unsorted and in a closet on the other side of the file cabinet.This is what you usually see on the floor of my scrap room - adhesive tab backs and my shoes.
This is the corner where my daughter or son sit in the comfy pink chair & read while I scrap. My husband isn't brave enough to venture into my scrap room.
