Shower Gift - Recipe Album

Tommy & Katie had a wedding shower a couple of weeks ago. My gift was a recipe book with 24 of Tommy's favorite foods. Of course it wasn't quite complete when I gave it, but they got the idea. I have it back and am 1/3 of the way finished with it. My due date for completion is his apartment move in date of August 11. Each album page is 6 1/2" x 4 1/2". I have made the recipes 4" by 3 1/2" to have room for embellishments.

On this page I used a scrap of paper I got from a garage sale stash of paper. It has old recipes on it. Fun!




The album is a Picfolio Minutes Album from Creative Memories. I don't know if they still carry this item or not as I ordered it from my consultant at least 3-4 years ago.








You undo the straps and wrap them around the back to form a easel type album which is perfect to use for recipes! And another bonus - my son's kitchen and dishes are in this raspberry color!

Watching the Royal Wedding

Last Friday morning a few girlfriends and I got up early to watch the Royal Wedding. We wore our tiaras watched the wedding and chatted. It was awesome.

Christmas Card Album

I recently was wondering what to do with all my homemade cards from friends and family. My scrap friend Nancy, showed me what she does with all her Christmas cards. She makes a cover and back then using her Zutter Bind-It-All creates a book for each year. She places an envelope in the back for her letters she receives. She even binds up any pictures too.

I didn't want to save every card, so I decided to only do this for the handmade cards.

Here is the 1st book I did for my 2009 Christmas cards. I want to do a birthday one too and other occasion cards as well.

I also found that adding a little "extention" to the back of each card and binding that part allowed me to open, read and see the entire card much better than losing part of the design inside the combs of the binding. This was also a necessity when embellishments like buttons or flowers were close to the fold.

New Ideas for border stickers

I've been following along with the free monthly classes at 2 Peas in a Bucket. The class on the 10th of every month is Products you Love Every Which Way. This month she showcased border stickers. I have lots of these lying around in a pencil box (great way to store them by the way) that I had never done anything with. The designer had 3 great ideas to try:
1) Pick out several borders and stick them on some muted paper in randomly spaced horizontal lines across the paper. (I forgot to take a picture of this but I used about 4 different border stickers and then added pics. Not too fancy, but stickers used.

2) Decorate chipboard using layers of border slickers. This was a little more difficult than it looked and I didn't know if I was going to like the results. But I did 2 large letters and a flower.
I could have inked the edges before or after, but I left them raw. Also I did a scissor trim as I went and then exacto/finger blade trim afterwards (the hardest part) The instuctor suggested to use your widest borders 1st and not necessarily butted up to each other. So another words lay a few down then start filling in.


3)Make a frame around a picture by pleating the border stickers. I didn't want a full frame around this picture, so I elected to just have random length strands coming out of the side of the photo. This was fun and another way to get rid of those stickers that had been around forever. In fact I liked it so much I used it for the leaves on the flower too. I used a plain forest green cardstock for the base of these layouts so the sticker art would pop out.

A year in the life of a College Freshman

Last year I went to a Page of the Month Class at my LSS. We worked on 2 page layouts learning new techniques or using new products. I used my pages for the 1st year of my daughter's college experience. These pages were so fun and I wish I could take credit for the design, but I never use this much bling on a page. I'm learning to though!

August The freshman are assigned to small groups for orientation week. All freshman wear gold and green beanies for orientation. It is a tradition from before my husband and I attended the college!

Participating in intermural sthletics is so much fun! Her dorm hall team was called "Whoa"



October Fountains in the rain and an Oklahoma sunset.

March At an OBU Basketball game with roommate (cheerleader) OBU men won the National NAIA championships for their division!!! At the Little Sahara State Park sand dunes with the big brother. Intermural volleyball rocks!

May I really loved this layout I think it was Basic Grey Kioshi. It was fun using the file clamps and ribbons for embellishments. Toga party for English class and Cowgirl Up with the Texas girls!


June Tara worked at Falls Creek Baptist Conference Center in June & July. Times to Remember - playing Ninja in the office, the 3 accountants in their "rain slickers" and assigned golf cart. With Dutton Band showing off the socks she tie-dyed for them.


July Another favorite layout. Got to personalize the chipboard banner with title stickers. More camp friends!



Back Page This is out of a pad - don't remember the manufacturer, but I thought it would be great for Tara to record some of her thoughts/habits/likes in college.
