Stationary Box Instructions

You will need the following materials for this project:
*A strong double sided adhesive tape like Terrifically Tacky Tape or Scor-Tape. I used the 1/4" and 1/2" sizes.

*19" of wide ribbon 1" to 1 1/2" wide - I used 1 3/8"

* For the Box & pockets:
2 - 12x12 sheets of double sided cardstock
1 - 12x12 sheet of solid color cardstock (to coordinate)

1 - 12x12 sheet of solid color cardstock for the base
1 - 12x12 sheet of patterned cardstock for the lid
1 - 12x12 sheet of coordinating solid or patterned cardstock for the inside pockets, etc.

* 2 small brads
* embellishments
* 2 sheets of lined notebook paper

If you want to coordinate cards to fill the inside box you will need:

2 - 8 1/2 x 11 solid color cardstock for card bases
1 - 12x12 solid cardstock for 3x3 cards
1 - 12x12 patterned cardstock to embellish cards & tags
2 - 12x12 white or other colored card stock to make the envelopes for the 3x3 cards.

These are the components of the stationary box:

*The base
*The lid which is also wrapped with a wide ribbon for support
*A pocket for the A2 size cards
*A pocket for the 3x3 size cards
*A pocket for the tags
*A pocket for stamps
*A small address book
*A pen holder

The box holds: 4 - A2 cards with envelopes comfortably
3 - 3x3 gift cards with envelopes
3 - gift tags no wider than 3 1/4" or
taller than 4"

For the 3x3 envelopes, I found that several of my cricut carts would cut out envelopes these included:
Doodle Charms, LockerTalk, Beyond Birhtdays, Christmas Cheer, Walk in my Garden, Alphalicious, Base Camp and Cindy Loo

For my example I used Beyond Birthdays Square Envelope cut at 4 1/2" to accomodate the 3x3 card. Of course these gift cards would work without envelopes too and you could fit in 3 more!

The actual box I made was the red & green Christmas set. The blue set and modified instructions are from Stampin' Up consultant Jackie Topa's blog.

Step-by-Step
Step 1
Score the 12" x 12" piece of double-sided cardstock (or solid color card stock) at 5" and 7". Turn paper 90 degrees and score at 3" and 9" in the other direction.

Step 2
Cut sides to score lines. If you are using the double-sided cardstock, decide which side you want on the outside and place that side facedown. Fold these cut pieces into the center and adhere down with double sided tape for extra support. This will make the bottom of your card box.

Step 3
Cut 1 3/4" off each side of the top panels only. Score the bottom two panels at 1" and 11".

Step 4 - Using the 12x12 piece of solid coordinating cardstock, cut a piece that measures 8 1/2" x 4 1/4". Score both short sides and one of the long sides of the 8 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece of cardstock at 1 1/4".

Step 5
Trim the corners and apply double-sided tape to the scored sections.




Step 6
Fold up the top of the card box and attach this piece to the box to form a holder for the cards.

Step 7 - Using the 2nd piece of 12x12 double-sided cardstock or a coordinated plain or patterned cardstock cut a strip 2"x 12". Next cut this 2" strip into 2 pieces one that is 5 1/2" and one that is 4 1/2". Score the 5 1/2" x 2" and the 4 1/2" x 2" pieces of cardstock on the short ends at 1/2" and 1" from each side. Apply double-sided tape along the score lines of the outer sections and to one of the inner sections as shown.




Step 8
Attach the pockets to the front of the card holder.



Here is the view of mine - you can see the separate sections a little better because of the contrasting paper.




Step 9
Cut the 2nd piece of double-sided cardstock (or patterned cardstock) into 2 pieces - 6 1/8" x 12" and 5 7/8 x
12" Set aside the 6 1/8" x 12" piece - we will use this for the lid.

Step 10
To make the address book, cut some lined paper to 3 1/2" x 6". The short side will be perpendicular to the lines and the long side parallel to the lines on the note paper. I used 4 strips this size for a total of 8 pages when folded. Then using the 12" x
5 7 /8" piece that you have of patterned or double-sided cardstock, trim to 6 1/2" x 3 3/4". Fold lined paper in half so it is now 3" wide. Fold the patterned cardstock in half so that it is 3 1/4" wide. Insert notebook paper and 2 or 3 brads.






Step 11
Embellish the address book and adhere it to the bottom left half of the card box using double-sided tape, leaving enough room for the pen and stamp envelope.






Step 12
For the stamp holder - Score a 2" x 3" piece of coodinating solid card stock at 1/2" on both short sides and one long side. Trim corners and fold scored pieces under.




Step 13
Embellish the stamp envelope as desired and adhere it down beside the address book.

Step 14
Wrap a 2" x 1 1/2" piece of cardstock or patterned cardstock loosely around pen making a loop. Center the pen and then attach the loop to the stationery box.




Step 15
Using the 12" x 6 1/8" piece of double-sided or patterned cardstock that you set aside, trim to 10 1/8" x 6 1/8". Then score at 2” on all sides. Cut the vertical score line up to the horizontal score line and trim the corners.



Step 16
Fold the ends up to form the lid and glue in place or use doule sided tape or glue dots. Fold so that the side out contrasts with the bottom of the box.






Step 17 Using double sided tape adhere the 19" piece of wide ribbon around the lid to give it some stability. Add any additional embellishments desired.


Step 18
Make some 3” x 3” note cards and envelopes if desired. Or place a 3x3 post it pad in this section.




Step 19
Make some tags.

Step 20
Make some A2 (4 1/4" x 6 1/4") cards.

Candle Project

This is the candle project that Vanessa led me through tonight. A little more practice to get the technique down. But it was fun.

Who Says you Can't Shave a Cat?

This is the 2nd time we've shaved our 2 cats. They don't exactly love it. At first they are fine, but it gets tiresome. It helps with the shedding, fleas and keeps them cooler in the summer.

History in the Making

A walking tour of the house in Wichita, KS for the 2011 Sisterhood Retreat.

As you enter the front door you are in a small foyer with a staircase to the left, Crop Room #1 to the right and dining room straight ahead.

Go through Crop Room #1 and turn to your left. You are now in Crop Room #2:

In Crop Room #2 you can turn to the left and got to the dining room.

If you continue back through Crop Room #2 you are in a small family room/den area with a TV.



On through this area and you are in the downstairs full bathroom.



Back at the foyer. If you go straight through the foyer and into the Dining Room, the kitchen is straight ahead. It is a long kitchen with lots of gorgeous cabinets, appliances and it's own little coffee bar area.

Walking through the kitchen, to the left of the fridge is a door into the laundry room with built-in ironing board and a new washer/dryer. Turn right in the laundry room and you face the stairs to the upstairs Crop Area #3. Pictures of this area are a few posts down. Behind the laundry room is the former garage which has been finished out as a messy work area. With a sink, tables cabinets and a few chairs. Do your glimmer misting and painting down here. Washing out brushes, etc. in this sink.

In this photo from the website you see the "work" sink, the stairs to the right go up to Crop Room #3 or you can go up the small set of stairs, turn to the right and you are in the laundry room.



Back to the foyer. Go to the left and wind up the stairs. At the top of the stairs is a small nook to your right with a recliner and a shelf of books. Great place for a nap or to unwind for awhile.

Directly across from the head of the stairs is the Green Room which sleeps 3.

To the left of that is the Shoe Room with 4 beds.

Across the hall from the Shoe Room is the Peach Room with 3 beds.

The Teacup room is the smallest with room for 2 and is a bit further down the hall, but closest to the upstairs full bath.


This bathroom has a separate walk-in shower and a separate tub with jacuzzi.

Floors in the bathrooms and kitchen are all new tile. Hardwoods everywhere else I believe with the exception of the garage area and crop room #3 which are carpeted.

Sisterhood Retreat Info

There are 3 crop areas: 2 Downstairs and 1 upstairs. The 2 downstairs are in connecting rooms. Room #1 has 3 tables that are 6 feet each. There are little shelves on the walls and the tables to help you organize your stuff. Trash cans at each crop spot.

As you look at this next picture you are standing in crop room #2. It is comprised of a long wooden table with 4 crop stations. There are powerstrips attached to the underneath side of the table for each spot. There is a cricut, cuttlebug and sewing machine on a table at the end of the room left side and on the right side a drying table area for stickles, etc. You can see through the window out to the side yard and the gazebo.
